What is Athens Creative Theatre?

Tom Coleman, Artistic Director for ACT Athens Creative Theatre is a non-profit community theatre that has been serving Athens and its surrounding areas for more than 30 years! ACT was founded in 1966 by Jane Quinn, a professor in the University of Georgia Drama Department. Since that time, ACT has developed into an important asset to the educational and cultural atmosphere of the Athens area community. ACT performs to approximately 13,000 people annually, and ACT is now a Unit of the Arts Division of Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department.

ACT currently produces four MAINSTAGE, three SUMMER MUSICAL SERIES and two YOUNG AUDIENCES productions annually. In addition, ACT offers semester long acting classes for youth in grades 2-12 and two week-long summer theatre camps to rising 3rd through 9th graders.
