All young people should have the opportunity to develop their artistic skills, nurture personal growth and deepen their understanding of theatre and their world. ACT is committed to engaging youth in creating imaginative, innovative and exciting theatre. Classes begin the week of September 10 and run for 12 weeks (holiday weeks excluded). CREATIVE ADVENTURE--Ages 7-8--Sunday 2:00 - 3:00 ($48)Drama is a journey of tiny discoveries. This adventure begins with a series of games and exercises that develop concentration, control, creativity and awareness through various drama techniques. Students will create animals, stories, worlds and legends through the use of improvisation, pantomime and storytelling.
CREATIVE DRAMATICS--Ages 9-10--Sunday 3:15 - 4:15 ($48)This dramatic journey begins with further exploration of techniques including: improvisation, pantomime, storytelling and dramatic movement. We will explore thoughts and feelings while learning to create characters from some of your favorite books, movies, cartoons or your imagination! In addition, we will begin work on various beginning theatre fundamentals such as: character development, projection, stage directions and movement for the stage!
MIDDLE THEATRE--Ages 11-12--Sunday 5:30-7:00 ($64)During this adventure you will strengthen your knowledge of all theatre basics--concentration, sensory awareness, characterization, improvisation, stage movement, diction and speech. In addition, we will explore short scenes and monologues. Exploration of place, time and situations will enable you to think creatively, both as an individual and in a group.
TEEN THEATRE--Ages 13-20--Sunday 7:15-9:15 ($72)This class furthers your understanding of theatre in performance as well as in technical theatre. It focuses on performance and audition techniques, as well as exercises that will strengthen your ability to perform in front of others.
